The role of the Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional Program is to disseminate information on improved water use efficiency technologies and help develop and implement CII water use efficiency programs with local agencies. This includes assisting in compliance with California Urban Water Conservation Council BMP 9 and financial assistance for development and implementation of water and energy efficiency programs.

Commercial: Water users that provide or distribute a product or a service.

Industrial: Any water users that are primarily manufacturers or processors of materials as defined by the Standard Industrial Classifications (SIC) Code numbers 2000 through 3999.

Institutional: Any water-using establishments dedicated to public service. This includes schools, courts, churches, hospitals and government facilities.

1995 - 8.8 million acre-feet
2020 - 12.0 million acre-feet (projected)

Counties with highest growth rates:
Over 100% growth rate increase between 1995 and 2020:
Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, Calaveras, El Dorado, Sutter and Del Norte Counties
80 - 100% growth rate increase between 1995 and 2020:
Fresno, Madera, San Benito, Merced, Stanislaus, and Lake Counties
